Stable heterologous expression of biologically active terpenoids in green plant cells
Plants biosynthesize a great diversity of biologically active small molecules of interest for fragrances, flavors, and pharmaceuticals. Among specialized metabolites, terpenoids represent the greatest molecular diversity. Many terpenoids are very complex, and total chemical synthesis often requires many steps and difficult chemical reactions, resulting in a low final yield or incorrect stereoch...
متن کاملSolid-phase selenium-catalyzed selective allylic chlorination of polyprenoids: facile syntheses of biologically active terpenoids.
Regioselective halogenation of the terminal isopropylidene unit of different acyclic polyolefinic polyprenoids (farnesyl acetate, geranylgeranyl acetate, squalene, etc.) using NCS/catalytic polymer-supported selenenyl bromide is described; good to excellent yields are obtained (68-96%). The first applications of this protocol include the concise synthesis of bioactive terpenoids 1-3.
متن کاملNatural Terpenoids from Ambrosia Species Are Active In Vitro and In Vivo against Human Pathogenic Trypanosomatids
Among the natural compounds, terpenoids play an important role in the drug discovery process for tropical diseases. The aim of the present work was to isolate antiprotozoal compounds from Ambrosia elatior and A. scabra. The sesquiterpene lactone (STL) cumanin was isolated from A. elatior whereas two other STLs, psilostachyin and cordilin, and one sterol glycoside, daucosterol, were isolated fro...

The 1:2 divinyl ether-maleic anhydride cyclic alternating copolymer (DIVEMA) shows a wide variety of biological activities. It has antitumor activity; it induces the formation of interferon; it has antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal activity; it is an anticoagulant and an anti-inflammatory agent. DIVEMA is an immunopotentiator; it increases the rate of phagocytosis, it activates macrophag...
